My Face Will Never Change
...
My face won't ever change again;
no smile will light it,
no frown will furrow its brow,
no laugh will emerge, free-flowing,
from me.
...
Nothing can change this countenance.
No stone has been more set,
no faith has been more shattered,
no tear has ever been more blue,
than these.
...
My face will never change again;
though age-lines may grow,
and the skin become transparent,
no change will come, forever; save
death's peace.
